Dusan Stojic
Co-Founder of School of Chess
Dusan is widely regarded as one of the leading chess coaches in Queensland. He has been actively coaching for over a decade at various Queensland primary and secondary schools. He has helped many students and schools achieve various State and National titles.
Dusan is one of Queensland’s top chess players. He is a two-time Queensland Champion and Victorian Champion. His official title is FIDE Master, recognised by the International Chess Federation (FIDE). His peak ratings are 2339 (FIDE) and 2385 (ACF).
Dusan’s chess story
Dusan started his chess journey at 5 years old, when his dad taught him and his brother the basics. His passion for chess grew as he started playing tournaments.
Dusan’s junior achievements include twice ACT Under 12 Champion, Australian Under 12 Champion and twice Victorian Under 18 Champion. Dusan represented Australia at multiple international age-group events, including World Youth Championships three times.
Dusan loves working with students that share his passion for chess. His goal is to inspire as many people as possible to learn chess.
Alexandra Jule
Co-Founder of School of Chess
Alexandra is one of Australia’s best female chess players. She was awarded the title of Women’s International Master in 2007 while she was still a junior. She is a three-time Queensland Women’s Champion, Australian Women’s Champion and the New Zealand Open Champion.
Alexandra has represented Australia in World Junior Chess Championships in Georgia and Turkey, Commonwealth Chess Championships in Delhi and Singapore and was part of the 2017 Australia Women’s Team for the Olympiad in Baku, Azerbaijan. Alexandra’s peak ratings are 2033 (FIDE) and 2083 (ACF).
Alexandra has been working with chess students of all levels for over 20 years. Her experience as a qualified teacher enables her to provide high quality lessons and targeted instruction for a wide variety of classes and students. She is particularly passionate about working with female students and providing access to chess coaching for students and schools in remote or regional locations.
Alexandra’s chess story
Alexandra started chess when she was 7, joining the chess club at school with her best friend. What started out as a way to get out of class turned into a passion for the game that has taken her around the world. She is fortunate enough to have a number of chess players in her family and hopes that one day her daughter will also share in the game that she dearly loves.
